Il Gran Paradiso (4061 m) fa parte della catena Graian Alps, famous for Mont Blanc (4810 m), the highest peak in the Alps
Gran Paradiso unlike so many other 4000, is entirely in Italian and the name terriotorio all'ononimo National Park [ park site ]
the normal route, as you might expect, the ascent is easier for the Gran Paradiso. According to the scale of difficulty French [ here] is classified as F + or easy and eminently technical difficulties.
the normal route that starts from Rifugio Vittorio Emanuele (2732 m), with a significant difference: about 1330 meters. The only real difficulty in this Way is in fact the gap that puts a strain on the resistance ... especially since 80% above the 3000 meters and the altitude a little is heard. The idea of \u200b\u200b
groped the normal route on the Gran Paradiso was my brother Gabriel, and have not yet taken courses CAI specific idea I was a little hesitant to go up so high with crampons and ice ax, but after assurances by Gabriele and his friends have decided to leave.
The starting point for the hike is the village of Pont (1960 m). Here you can leave your car and take the path going up with numerous activities, leading up to 2730 meters of Refuge Vittorio Emanuele in about 2 hours. From Reggio Emilia to Pont almost 4 hours .. A photo of my brother
preparations Pont ..
The first day is usually only get to the hut while the climb to the summit takes place the following day, starting before dawn (at 3 ½ - 4).
There are some climbers but come on top of the Gran Paradiso day trip from Pont! During the first few hours of climbing it we noticed the lights of some escursonisti that came up just from the valley of the Pont. We need a considerable physical preparation to deal with 2100 vertical meters in one go!
After dinner, which is quite early view that almost all the alarm sounds at 4 o'clock, I was able to devote a little to the landscape around the refuge.
The first hour of ascent was a bit tragic I struggled to get the right rhythm and I had some little dizzy, but after eating a chocolate bar and drank a little I recovered, but to be honest I had already thought of give up after this first hour of ascent that is mostly along a stony impenetrable.
A photo of my brother at dawn .. I was the second climber
After another 3 hours of steady climbing and now convinced that we reached the top we had a final blow ... uphill stretch unexpected!
From this point there was another hour's walk up the slope at 20-25 ° and a friend the other part of the group is not felt to go if we were exhausted!
After a refreshing break and time to make two photos are back down ..
This spur is the pick of Moncorvé (3851 m) .. the point where we stopped .. pictured below in the upper left can be seen climbing uphill in the final stretch before the summit ..
Obviously a bit of regret at the top there was not, but personally I am very satisfied with the two giornate trascorse in ottima compagnia tra le cime del Parco del Gran Paradiso.
